Piano Lessons

My musical journey began at the local music school in my birth town, Korolev, Russia when I was 8 years old, igniting a lifelong passion for playing the piano.

Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of learning from exceptional musicians who have shaped my approach to teaching. From the rigorous technical basis of the Russian piano school to the meticulous attention to tone quality of the French, and the wide stylistic awareness of the English, each of my teachers has imparted invaluable wisdom that I am honoured to pass down to the next generation.

I have been teaching since the age of eighteen, and have now spent almost two decades working with students of all ages and abilities. I served for five years on the piano faculty at the Conservatoire of Luxembourg, and I currently teach piano at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. I have also recently been appointed a trustee of the European Piano Teachers’ Association (EPTA UK).

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that effective learning stems from love and passion for music. I strive to foster genuine interest and engagement in my students, creating an environment where they can thrive and develop their own musical voice.

I tailor my approach to each individual student, understanding that every learner is unique. Whether it is through communication style or repertoire selection, I adapt my teaching to meet the needs and preferences of each student, ensuring a personalised and enriching experience.

The pillars of my teaching are:

Cultivating general musicianship and fluency in reading music
Building a solid technical foundation to ensure proficiency and versatility
Developing a nuanced and rich tone colour palette and expressivity
Nurturing individuality and creativity in musical interpretation and performance
Understanding of the musical style and context to inform interpretation

I teach children and adults of all levels, from beginners to professionals. In addition to piano lessons, I prepare students for music scholarships and auditions, as well as ABRSM, LCM and Trinity exams. I also offer theory, harmony, sight-reading, and aural lessons.

30 minutes: £30
45 minutes: £45
60 minutes: £60
90 minutes: £90

Ongoing tuition
After the trial lesson, tuition is paid monthly. The annual fee is spread evenly across 12 monthly payments and covers all lessons delivered during the school term.

30-minute weekly lessons: £84 per month
45-minute weekly lessons: £126 per month
60-minute weekly lessons: £168 per month
90-minute weekly lessons: £252 per month

I had an opportunity to learn piano with Yulia for almost 4 years before she moved to UK, the initiative is to accompany the kid to grow together in piano, or to a large extent, music. Interest is the best teacher. How to keep the young active kid before an instrument voluntarily , how to cultivate the interest for music, is always a challenge for parents. Competition for piano learning within families sometimes is a lot of fun. And for myself, piano lesson is like a bonus in busy time.

The actual piano learning experience is far beyond the original expectation. Starting as a “0” beginner, Yulia help me to choose several beloved rhythms for piano learning interest. Tailor-made revise for music sheet, made it possible for beginners to practise amazing music. Great patience and enthusiasm has been put into the weekly teaching process. Besides pure piano technique, As we all experienced, music hit your heart some time. I would say Yulia help me to enjoy music in a much deeper and better way.

By now, I can play several favourite piano pieces, also has quite a lot of interests for piano &concerts. Actually, my kid improved much more in music, piano, percussion, drums, 3-4 music-related lessons per week seems not a burden. We really appreciate the musical seeds where
Yulia has sowed in our family.
